There’s nothing that can make you look haggard, exhausted and awful quite like a flight, particularly a long-haul trip. When you step off a plane if you’re like most of us, you probably look anything but fresh. So what happens if you have somewhere important to be after your flight lands, and you don’t have a lot of time to make yourself look alive again?
Maybe you have an important meeting as soon as you leave the airport or a social engagement.
Whatever it is, the following are some quick tricks to look better after you land so you can hit the ground running with whatever your plans might be.
Choose Your Food and Drinks Carefully
One of the biggest culprits of your less-than-ideal appearance after you get off a long flight are often the food and drinks you chose while in the air. Alcohol and unhealthy, salt-filled airplane food can make you look puffy and bloated. Try to make your choices carefully so that you can avoid those disasters, which are hard to overcome.
Water or green tea are good beverage choices, and try to choose your in-flight meal wisely. Generally, fresher foods are going to be better than the ones that are packed and processed, of course.
Bring Moisturizing Eye Drops
Another reason you look less than stellar after a flight?
Your eyes are probably bloodshot and tired looking. A lot of this comes from the temperature control system of the cabin, as well as straining your eyes to watch a movie or read a book.
Bring some moisturizing eye drops in your carry-on bag, and you might consider some moisturizing under-eye pads to use right before you land.
Another eye trick for pre-landing is to put an ice cube over your eyes for a few seconds to reduce any swelling that might be happening.
Bring Hair Products in Your Carry-On
Find small sizes of your favorite hair products that will pass security and let you fluff up your style before you land. Some styling clay can refresh your style and also absorb extra oil, or you might opt for a powdered dry shampoo.
Use a Hydrating Face Spray
Most frequent travelers swear by a hydrating face spray. Choose a moisture-rich spray with plenty of anti-oxidants that you can use not just right before landing, but throughout your flight. It will keep your skin looking fresh and dewy, rather than tired and dried out. Just make sure the bottle your spray is stored in is small enough to make it through security.
As a final note, wear comfortable clothes and bring clothes to change into when you arrive if at all possible. You don’t want to get off the plane, even following a relatively short flight, and have wrinkled clothes.
If you follow tips like the ones above and pack the right things, you can step off your next flight looking refreshed and radiant, even if you don’t feel that way on the inside.
